International Congress of Philosophy as a phenomenon of Another Globalization

The International Congress of Philosophy is a relatively recent phenomenon in the history of philosophy. But the constancy with which such congresses have been reproduced over the last 119 years (since the First International Philosophical Congress) indicates that this form of philosophical communication is far from being something accidental (at least for modern philosophy). In addition to the world philosophical congresses, numerous international forums on ethics, logic, and methodology of science, philosophy of politics, etc. are held. The authors believe that the need to hold such large-scale, organizationally complex (and note, costly enough) events, such as international philosophical congresses, is significantly created by a combination of factors. This is an economic, sociopolitical, and informational-cultural integration of mankind, providing and stimulating the synthesizing processes also within the world philosophical community. The article attempts to answer the question of how the forms of work of a philosophical community arising on the basis of these processes are essential for philosophical thought itself, for philosophy itself, what, in fact, does the international philosophical congress bring to the traditional dialogue of philosophers from various nations and countries that has been going on for millennium.
