Utilization of wavelet transform method to diagnose bearing defect

摘要
In general, wavelet transform method is usually used to decomposed an arbitrary function into its basic unit and the coefficients of the wavelet transform are obtained by dilation and translation of its basic unit known as the mother wavelet. A wavelet transform can indicate local transient-oscillation of a signal at a particular point, which is typical in a defective machine component such as the rolling element bearing. In this paper the application of wavelet transform method to diagnose the kind of defect present in a rolling element bearing is presented. The signature of defective bearing signals are captured using wavelet transform method and further analysis are carried out to determine the types of defect present in the bearing such as the rolling element defect, outer race defect or the inner race defect.
