Concentration quenching of luminescence from the 2P3/2 level of Er3+ ion in Y3Al5O12 and YAlO3 crystals

摘要
The luminescence quenching of the (2)P3/2 level of Er(3+)in Y3Al5O12 and YAlO3 crystals has been studied in a wide concentration range (1 to 100 at%) at T approximate to 300 K. Computer methods were used to analyze the recorded decay curves and to evaluate characteristics of the nonradiative ion-ion energy transfer. It is shown that the concentration quenching of the (2)P3/2 luminescence can be described in terms of dipolar cross-relaxation processes between two Er3+ ions. The microscopic and macroscopic parameters of the energy transfer have been determined using the Golubov-Konobeev relation.
