Channel flow cell electrodeposition of CdTe for solar cells

摘要
CdS/CdTe solar cells can be fabricated by electrodeposition of CdTe on CdS-coated conducting glass. The electrolyte contains a high concentration of Cd2+, but only a low concentration of TeO2. As a consequence, deposition of 2 mu m CdTe films from stirred solutions normally requires 2-3 h. The present work has shown that high-quality CdTe films can be grown rapidly using a channel flow cell. 2 mu m films have been deposited in less than 20 min. The quality of the CdTe is suitable for solar cell applications. A test cell with an AM 1.5 efficiency approaching 6% has been fabricated using a film prepared in the channel cell.
