Integration of NDE in life-cycle cost of highway bridges

摘要
The integration of quantitative non-destructive evaluation (NDE) data into bridge management systems is instrumental to the development of optimal maintenance planning strategies for the U.S. bridge inventory. This study presents recent progress in (a) integration of NDE in life-cycle cost of highway bridges, and (b) identification of optimum lifetime reliability-based maintenance strategies for bridges using inspection data and life-cycle cost methods. The overall goals are to predict bridge condition quantitatively, incorporate inspection results into existing bridge management systems, and use the results to efficiently plan and prioritize bridge maintenance efforts.
