Properties of a Novel Bioflocculant Produced by Pseudomonas Alcacligenes and Its Use in Defecating the Pharmaceutic Wastewater

摘要
Biopolymer flocculant EBU-1 produced by Pseudoinonas alcacligenes, a bioflocculant-producing bacterium, named EB-8, was found to have good flocculating activity. The composition analysis of EBU-1 which produced by EB-8 showed that it composed mainly of polysaccharide(82.3%), determined by using phenol-vitriol method, nucleic acid(8.6%) and determined by UV absorption method. Under the optimized culture condition for production of the bioflocculant, 2.542g of crude bioflocculant per liter broth was obtained. The bioflocculant showed high efficiency in flocculating pharmaceutic wastewater. The flocculating activity was stimulated by the addition of bivalent or trivalent cation Ca2+ or Al3+. In the alkaline condition, the flocculating rate and chemical oxygen demend (COD) removal could reach 87.7% and 62.3%, respectively. The optimized bioflocculant dosage was 10m1. The maximum of flocculating rate was reached at 15ml CaCl2 dose, while the maximum of COD removal was at 5m1 dose. The EBU-1 was an effective bioflocculant under a wide range of temperature(20-80 degrees C)
