Optical coherence tomography (OCT) for idiopathic macular holes and macular pucker

摘要
Purpose: The authors report their experience, starting from 1997 up to today, in the utilization of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) technique for the diagnosis and the morphological evaluation of macular pucker (MP) and idiopathic full-thickness macular holes (MH). Materials and Methods: Different cases and studies based on OCT examination for the clinical diagnosis of idiopathic MP and MH are briefly reported. Results: Optical coherence tomography examination may visualize the different morphological aspects of MP and MH and may detect their changements with time. Conclusions: optical coherence tomography is a high resolution, non-invasive diagnostic technique that permits a detailed evaluation of various macular pathologies. This examination frequently helps to select the cases that are more likely to benefit from surgery.
