Regional disparities in Slovakia

The main factors of raising regional polarization were structural problems of large entrepreneurs in the regions, infrastructure and the disinclination of minorities to enter to tke labour market. The unemployment rate has been decreasing in the every region since 2001.The unemployed people find the jobs harder in the regions with higher unemployment rate because the jobs create here less. Education disparities are also in the Slovak republic. Problems of education have historical characters, but also are connected with current economic and social problems. The poor exist in the regions, but mainly are concentrated in the villages. The following instruments can contribute to the reducing region disparities: development of infrastructure, social-economic programs, mobility and fiscal decentralization(3).
