Quality Education for African Americans After Parents Involved Introduction

This introduction discusses the possible impact of the 2007 Supreme Court decision in Parents Involved in Community Schools v. Seattle School District No. 1, which dismantled the ability of school boards to act affirmatively to desegregate their schools by assigning students to schools beyond their neighborhoods as sanctioned in the Court's 1971 decision in Swann v. Charlotte Mecklenburg Board of Education.
