Measurements of heterodyne efficiency for 2.0μm coherent lidar using hard target around the surface of the earth

摘要
The heterodyne efficiency of the coherent Doppler lidar (CDL) is a key parameter determining operation performance. The transversal coherence length of a laser beam decreases by fluctuations in atmospheric refractive index during the laser round trip. The characteristics of the heterodyne efficiency with the fluctuations of refractive index are investigated analytically and experimentally. We simulated the heterodyne efficiency for our 2.0 mum coherent lidar using Dabas's method and compared with experimental results. The experimental results showed the 0 good agreement with simulated predictions. It turned out that the heterodyne efficiency mainly depends on the fluctuations of atmospheric refractive index and the telescope diameter.
