摘要
The colloids in joint fluid play parts in homeostasis of articular cartilage, protection from microorganism, joint lubrication, and etc.. The study of human joint from the point of view of colloid science will contribute to the clinic al medicine, e.g. orthopaedic surgery, sports medicine, and rehabilitation medicine. Measurements of zeta-potential of particulate biomaterial in inflammatory synovial fluid with changes in pH and protein constituents revealed that the value of zeta-potential particulate biomaterial depend on pH and protein constituent. Bacterial adhesion study revealed that the initial process of bacterial adhesion on natural and artificial joint surfaces depend on the polarity component of surface free energy. Friction test revealed that albumin constituent in protein rich hyaluronan solution reduces the coefficient of friction of UHMWPE to SUS to minimum value at pH 8.0 at the walking speed.
