摘要
The performances of dry sliding wear and friction of aluminum matrix composites reinforced by graphite and silicon carbide particules and heat-treated at 630 degrees C for 4, 8,12 and 16 hours have been investigated. The results show that the wear rate of the composite decreases greatly and the friction coefficient increases slightly with the increase of heat-treatment time. The decrease of the wear rate of the composite is attributed to the interfacial reaction between graphite and aluminum which leads to the increase in hardness of the composite. The increase of the friction coefficient of the composite results from the decrease of graphite that accompanies an increase of interfacial reaction product, Al4C3.
