The use of products developed by the joint enterprise of Morgan Thermal Ceramic-Sukhoi Log (MTKSL), Russia, in metallurgy is discussed. The main properties of the objects made of mullite-silica fiber include varied service temperature range, improved heat insulating properties, high heat resistance, and low weight. Fiber refractories are largely used in metallurgy processes such as coke furnaces, iron production, steel production and steel pouring. MTKSL has produced MKRV-200, MKRVKh-250 (with chromium), and MKRKL-450, which is the heat insulating layer of steel pouring ladled linings. MKRFTIV-600 can be extensively used for heat insulating shells for heat insulation of the head of an ingot. The company's main distinction lies in its quality system orientation towards the customer, and production of a competitive product, fulfilling the required properties and quality.
