FRP reinforcement of LVL: Bond strength and durability issues

摘要
This paper describes the feasibility of reinforcing the LVL flanges of structural I-joists with fiber reinforced polymers (FRP) to increase flange strength by 20 to 30 percent. The development of this FRP was driven by the cost effectiveness of the reinforcement constituents while still maintaining the basic LVL manufacturing process. A satisfactory E-glass composite reinforcement for LVL has been developed that meets APA and ASTM standards for both strength and durability of the FRP-to-wood-veneer bond.
