:
o-Quinone methide was efficiently produced by photoirradiation of phenolic Mannich bases in aqueous acetonitrile with low energy UV light. The photoreaction proceeds most effectively at neutral pH in aqueous solvents. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
