摘要
This paper aims to investigate the propagation of Love type surface waves in heterogonous viscoelastic layer lying over a homogeneous viscoelastic half-space. Heterogeneity in the layer is due to exponential variation of rigidity and viscoelastic parameter. Dispersion relation has been obtained in closed form. Relation to explain the damping phenomenon has been found. It is observed that heterogeneity of the layer increases the phase velocity of surface wave significantly. Obtained dispersion relation has been found in agreement with classical Love wave equation when the layer and half space are considered homogeneous isotropic. Some particular cases are deduced and presented by means of graph. (C) 2017 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
