Church history in Slovak historiography in the years 1918-1938

The existence of the interwar Czechoslovak republic was an era of rapid institutionalization and professionalization of Slovak historical science. This development involved also the church history. New state and non-state institutions offered better possibilities for research and publication of works related to this problematic. Church history started to free itself from the bonds of strict confessionalism and became a part of modern historiography. However, this field of research was still a domain of a relatively small group of historians, it lacked continuity and cooperation. That's why the development of church history in Slovakia during the years 1918-1938 only created basics which were fully utilized only in the following years.
