Reproductive health of adolescents and issues of sexual education

Reproductive health of adolescents and issues of sexual education (by Irina Zhuravleva) addresses the topic of reproductive health of adolescents in contemporary Russia. Sexual education in the country is a cause for alarm in this respect. Attempts at introducing the above education launched in 1990th have failed. The financing of federal "Family planning" program had been discontinued due to mistakes made at the stage of its introduction. The situation, however, with the health of adolescents continues to deteriorate affecting, as before, the reproductive sphere. This was a reason for the Institute of sociology, Russian academy of sciences, to organize a survey among school-students, their parents and top experts, as well as to analyze under this viewpoint some 20 currently practical educational programs.
