摘要
Climate change will continue to threaten cowpea supply security due to spontaneous global warming. Efforts towards achieving effective climate change adaptation have been hindered by factors that are yet to be investigated. This paper ascertains the factors affecting effective climate change adaptation among cowpea farmers in Ido local government area of Oyo State, Nigeria for cowpea supply security. Following a survey of 108 randomly selected cowpea farmers, descriptive statistical tools were used for data analysis while multiple regression analysis was used to identify factors influencing effective climate change adaptation among cowpea farmers. Adaptation measures adopted by respondents ranged from local (low sophisticated) to high regional (moderate sophisticated) technology. The use of precision farming technology such as variable-rate technology and green seeker were discouraged among farmers. Hence, there is a need to eliminate factors hindering utilisation of modern adaptation measures for better coping mechanism and sustainable cowpea production.
