Self-evaluation of relationship patterns: The Interpersonal Relationship Pattern (IRP) Questionnaire

How can the reactions of the subject to the projected behaviour patterns of the other and the expected reactions of the other to the behaviour of the subject be recorded as an internalised behaviour pattern in self-description? We investigated this question during the further development of a new questionnaire for the depiction of interpersonal relationship patterns, the so-called Interpersonal Relationships Pattern Questionnaire. The theoretical basis of its construction, which links the SASB model of BENJAMIN (1974) with the CCRT method of LUBORSKY (1977), allows statements about reaction patterns to be made, which are recorded by means of an If-Then (situation-reaction) logic. This should be demonstrated by an example. Validity and reliability are examined by means of a psychotherapeutic (n=496), a psychiatric (n=106) and a student (n=91) sample. Indications of the clinical-prognostic relevance of the IRP-questionnaire are demonstrated by means of the results of a sub-sample (n=145) and conclusions are drawn concerning the further development of the questionnaire.
