Effect of amines on the electrodeposition of Ni-Fe alloys

摘要
The addition of ethylenediamine (EDA) or diethylenetriamine (DETA) to a Ni-Fe electrodeposition bath enhances the relative rate of nickel deposition. This modification allows Permalloy (78% Ni, 22% Fe) to be produced from baths containing significantly higher concentrations of Fe2+. Also, the deposit composition varies little with applied current densities from 5 to 25 mA/cm(2) when using this modified bath. The effect of EDA on the deposit composition is negated when the pH of the bath is reduced below 5; for DETA, this pH limit is 4.
