摘要:
For successful self-regulation and interaction with the environment, individuals require psychosocial skills (e. g., emotion regulation and social competence). When individuals lack these skills, the risk of developing a mental disorder is greatly increased. In this article we present a model that explains both healthy and deficient development of psychosocial skills. This model is subsequently used to delineate how psychosocial skills can be supported in psychotherapy and how the associated competences can be further developed. Larger prevention projects as well as case examples demonstrate the importance of integrating well-established techniques of skill development into psychotherapeutic settings. We also elaborate on related psychodynamic concepts, such as the psychological structure. Finally, we discuss the complementary skills and competencies needed by psychotherapists and how they should be implemented in professional psychotherapeutic training and advanced training curricula.
