Analogues of hexitol nucleic acids: Structure function relationship of a new steric blocking agent

摘要
Different base and sugar modifications have been evaluated to increase the base-pairing potential of hexitol nucleic acids. Introduction of 5-methyl groups for pyrimidines, substitution of 2,6-diaminopurine for adenine as well as introduction of a supplementary hydroxyl moiety; at 3'-down-position all proved advantagous. Removal of the ring oxygen resulting in cyclohexyl nucleic acid analogues still allowed base-pairing with a natural complement.
