Analysis and Fabrication of PSS Technology Applied in TFT-LCD Displays

摘要
In polarization shielded smectic (PSS) liquid crystal display, there are two special characteristics. One is fast response time and the other is native wide viewing angle with very low color shift. In order to achieve performance of the PSS-LCD, the cell gap thickness and the rubbing direction are very important for fabrication condition. Therefore, we have succeeded to achieve 1.7 mu m cell gap thickness and good liquid crystal alignment. In finally results, the response time (rising time and falling time) is less 1 ms and we also measure ninety points for uniformity of cell gap thickness that is 98%, and then we see the results which are very uniform. However, PSS technology is compatibility in an LC panel mfg with conventional mfg lines. Besides, we also have succeeded to develop 15.4 inch PSS-LCD in middle area displays.
