High reliable and widely tunable 1.55 mu m distributed Bragg reflector lasers for WDM applications

摘要
DBR lasers with a record 17 nn tuning range are reported. Systematic accelerated aging tests of these devices have been performed at 60 degrees C and 80 degrees C during at least 1200h. During the aging time, the wavelength fluctuations measured at 60 degrees C and 80 degrees C are lower than +/-0.02 nn and +/-0.03 mm, respectively. Based on a standard operating current degradation failure criterion, the estimated lifetimes are higher than 70000h and 8500h respectively at 60 degrees C and 80 degrees C, and are shorter than the ones based on the wavelength drift one.
