Contact angle - Surface energy dependence in solid oxide/liquid metal systems

摘要
The combination of experimental and literature data given for interfacial quantities and wetting conditions in non-wetted (theta > 90(0)) and non-reactive ceramic oxide/liquid metal systems has led to the expression of an empirical relationship which correlates the oxide's surface energy with the contact angle. This relationship allows the calculation of the surface energy of the oxide or the contact angle, when one of the two quantities is specified, for given temperature and surface energy of the liquid metal. The results when compared to experimental data showed satisfactory degree of agreement.
