A microwave-promoted synthesis of polyhydroxydeoxybenzoins and -phenylpropanones has been developed, using bis{(trifluoromethyl)sulfonyl}amine (HNTf2) or BF3-OEt2 in an ionic liquid solvent. (c) 2006 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
