This study will address discussions about multiculturalism in the educational process in school institutions, so that the differences existing in the same space can be respected and valued, rather than being grounds for exclusion and discrimination. Thus, the aim of this study is to contribute with debates and reflections on the importance and respect for differences, especially in the educational sphere, so that the principle of equal rights can apply to all individuals who form a society and live together in the school space. The same constitutes a theoretical essay, based on discussions of authors such as Silva and Brandim (2016), Carmo, Farias and Mendes (2014), Candau (2008, 2011) and Werneck (2008), who debate in their studies and works, relevant aspects on multiculturalism in education. Thus, with this study, it has been realized that working on multiculturalism in connection with the teaching process is not an easy task, but it is not impossible either. For this, it is necessary that there is mobilization and commitment on the part of the whole school community, including in this process the partnership with the State, so that multicultural education materializes in the schools; capable of promoting to the students an awareness on the problems that the most different forms of prejudice and discrimination can lead to the life of an individual in formation.
