Modern papermachine concepts for packaging papers

Significant recent technological progress is enabling the next generation of packaging paper machines to achieve major advancements in productivity. A new corrugating medium machine, due for startup in the northern autumn 2000, will operate at 1450 m/min, over 40% faster than existing machines producing these grades. The most significant development in achieving this technological leap is the new generation of gap former - the DuoFormer Base. However, progress throughout all areas of the papermachine has been necessary to meet this challenging speed goal. This paper provides an overview of the recent technological developments achieved in the packaging papermachine. The features of the new machine units are outlined, along with their configuration into state-of-the-art papermachines. The latest concepts for packaging paper machines are presented.
