摘要
The text under the title Modern City Origins of Contemporary Urban Planning covers most of the topics from the curriculum of the fifth-semester course Urbanism III of the Bachelor degree program in Architecture and Urban Planning at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Zagreb. The topics address the issues of the overlapping between the planning strategies for the development of an urban area and the strategies implemented within the context of physical planning. Thirteen chapters offer a brief overview of the essential principles of planning construction activities, reasonable programs and city scales and layout, and the mechanisms necessary in the control of the city's spatial identity. This text crosses disciplines inherent to planning procedures, thus opening the possibility of using the book in other courses dealing with education in technical, humanistic and economic aspects of the city.
