摘要
A multinational initiative to eliminate house infestation by Triatoma infestans was launched by Ministries of Health of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay in 1991. More than 2 million houses were sprayed at a cost of more than US$ 300 million up to 2000. As the number of T. infestans found in all or part of these countries was far below the minimum threshold necessary to ensure transmission of T. cruzi, it was considered that vectoral transmission had been interrupted in Uruguay in 1997, in Chile in 1999, in 7 of the 11 endemic states of Brazil in 2000, in one other in 2001, and in 4 of 19 endemic provinces of Argentina in 2001.
