The wood density variation from earlywood to latewood in five Abies pindrow trees has been studied. The wood densities were determined on strips by usual water immersion method. In normal growth rings wood density variation showed three intergrading patterns from earlywood to latewood. These patterns are not affected by the age of the annual rings. In annual increaments with two or more growth rings, there is a decrease in wood density values in each earlywood zone and an increase in each latewood zone.
