Implementation of a Manufacturing and Execution System (MES) in an aluminum Cast House

With the new business principles like just-in-time delivery and low inventory levels guiding day-to-day operations, accuracy and speed of communication with the shop floor is becoming a key factor for success. This presentation focuses on an information system developed and implemented at Canadian Reynolds Metals Baie-Comeau smelter for managing the production of the Cast House. The presentation will cover the processes of identifying needs, choosing a base software, developing the software, installing required hardware, training the resources and going live with the software.
