Construction and Realization of the Experimental Alternative Fuel Vehicle

摘要
Nowadays, fossil fuels unfavorably affect human and environment. One of the possible replacements of fossil fuels is hydrogen as an alternative fuel. In order to utilize hydrogen as a source of energy, we have designed Jeep Willys replica vehicle. The vehicle is supposed to serve for a risk examination purpose, as well as for Shell Eco Marathon race. Construction design and drawing documentation was realized in Catia V5 software with respect to the race rules. Different driving techniques were simulated in Catia, too. Based on these characteristics, material properties and steel profiles were determined. Construction consists of chassis, body, brake system, steering system, etc. We compared two fuel cells where Nexa Power Module was chosen and implemented into the vehicle. Generated electric energy drives the electric motor and driving wheel. The vehicle was examined from the perspective of risks, which were eliminated in design. Vehicle electrical system operates at 12 volt.
