摘要
We discuss new results based on the many thousands of extremely metal-poor stars discovered in the ongoing HK survey of Beers and collaborators. The present status of the photometric and spectroscopy follow-up efforts are summarized, and the nature of the halo metallicity distribution function is considered. We point out the existence of apparent complexities in the kinematics of the lowest abundance stars in the Galaxy, and discuss the presence of a large fraction of carbon-enhanced stars among the HK survey stars with [Fe/H] less than or equal to -2.0.
