摘要
This article addresses the defence of the public school from the perspective of Historical-Critical Pedagogy, placing the theme from the main theoretical-political conceptions: classical liberalism, renewed (Keynesian) liberalism, neoliberalism and socialism, treated in conjunction with the issue of public school in its manifestation in capitalist society. As a conclusion, it is made clear that in the historical-critical perspective the challenge posed by capitalist society to public education can only be faced in a proper sense with the overcoming of this form of society. The struggle for public school coincides, therefore, with the struggle for socialism.
