Whole Abdominal Radiation Therapy (WART) as salvage treatment for patients with minimal residual disease after second-look in epithelial ovarian cancer - phase II study

As a part of ongoing effort to improve salvage rate for patients who still have residual disease, yet minimal, after initial tumor debulking and cisplatin based combination chemotherapy, we have studied whole abdominal radiation therapy as salvage treatment after second-look laparotomy in advanced epithelial ovarian cancer. Long term survival was minimal and late complication is too high to recommend this modality as salvage treatment.
