Meeting the challenge: introducing enterprise learning to civil engineering students

This paper reports on a programme that aimed to develop a series of group design projects that would enhance the potential for enterprise in civil engineering undergraduates. Project-based team experience learning has been. developed with the enterprise learning embedded within complex design projects. The students experience real commercial problems with current case study material and unknown outcomes. With supportive teaching and tutorial sessions from active industrialists and commercial managers, the students have the opportunity to generate original ideas, develop their skills to exploit commercial opportunities, add value and be innovative in their project designs.
