Human Capital Analysis of Gender and Urban and Rural Areas in Henan Province

Henan province has the largest number of population in China. In this paper, we calculate the human capital separately by gender and region in Henan Province, with microeconomic and macroeconomic dates from 1982 to 2010. First, we use the Joegenson and Fraumeni (J-F) income-based approach to estimate lifetime income, Mincer methods to estimates the current income, return on education. Then, we apply STATA software tool to do the whole regression analysis. Finally, we obtain results. One of the results is that the human capital gap between male and female is becoming larger and larger. It is opposite to our common sense. This will lead to the employment situation of female more difficult than that of male. Another result is that human capital gap between rural and urban is becoming larger and larger. This will exacerbate the process of urbanization.
