摘要
Although paper machine wet end environments are not particularly corrosive, paper machine corrosion must be avoided because deposits easily attach to, and therefore detach from, corroded surfaces, producing sheet defects. Materials of construction for wet end equipment are reviewed. Particular attention is paid to corrosion in recycled fiber systems, microbially-influenced corrosion of stainless steels and cast irons, thiosulfate corrosion, the repair of localized corrosion and the use of protective (paint) coatings.
