CP violation, rare decays and the CKM matrix

These lectures give a brief description of CP violation and rare decays of K and B mesons with particular emphasize put on the determination of the CKM matrix. The following topics will be discussed: i) The CKM matrix and the unitarity triangle, ii) General aspects of the theoretical framework, iii) Standard analysis of the unitarity triangle, iv) Rare decays K+ --> pi(+)nu(nu) over bar, K-L --> pi(0)nu(nu) over bar and K-L --> pi(0)e(+)e(-), v) Rare B decays, vi) CP violation in B decays, vii) Models with minimal flavour violation.
