摘要
In the present study, the surface failures in Aluminium cenosphere syntactic foams due to sliding contact and the effect of sliding speed on them were studied using the pin-on-disc machine. The surface failures were quantified by using the wear rate. The experiments were conducted at a constant load of 10 N, sliding distance of 2000 m and speed of 360 rpm - 800 rpm. Stir casting technique is used to prepare the samples. The wear rates were appeared to be reduced with an increase in the sliding speed and there were very little variations in the coefficient of friction with sliding speed. The wear tracks were observed in the scanning electron microscope to study the wear mechanisms. (C) 2019 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
