摘要
Ongoing research is reported aimed at improving biofixation through the use of bioactive glass coatings on Ti-based implant alloys. The optimized processing conditions for coating with one promising bioactive glass composition are discussed, and the stress corrosion crack growth behavior in a simulated human physiological environment is presented. This glass can be successfully used to coat Ti implant alloys, and preliminary tests indicate that interfacial fracture resistance is good. (C) 1999 Acta Metallurgica Inc.
