摘要
The location of acoustic emission (AE) sources during rock deformation has proven to be a useful non-destructive analytic technique. In this study, the three-dimensional location and energy of each AE event for sandstone were determined during uniaxial compression. The correlation dimension based on fractal concept is adopted to quantitatively describe the development of microcracks before rock failure. It shows that rock micofracture in compression is clustered in small region observed from the changes of correlation dimensions. The correlation dimension tends to increase before peak strength. Therefore, the correlation dimension accompanied with the AE rate will be a precursor of a dramatic fracturing.
