摘要
It is well established that austenitic stainless steels derive an important contribution to formability from the transformation of austenite to martensite during deformation. The current investigation was initiated in an effort to better understand the influence of subtle composition variations on the formability of austenitic stainless steels. Statistical methods were used to identify ten commercially produced 304 stainless sheet steels for detailed investigation. M-D30 temperature measurements on these steels confirmed reports that small variations in chemistry can substantially influence M-D30, and statistical analysis suggested important effects of grain size, and chromium and manganese concentrations.
