摘要
Despite efficacy of surgery to reduce osteoarthritis related pain, quadriceps weakness is observed following surgery, even after several months or years. It has been shown that preoperative quadriceps strength is a relevant predictor of functional postoperative performances. Thus, preoperative rehabilitation might be a major determinant for patient independence. Currently, protocols heterogeneity does not allow researchers to conclude that preoperative strength training physiotherapy is useful. However, it is important to differentiate the most efficient ones from others. Therefore, the best protocols are detailed and the effects on pain, strength and function are presented.
