摘要
The fractal dependence of crack size tolerance index, (CSTI), has been studied for several 7000-series aluminum alloys. A quantitative relation was developed between CSTI and the fractal dimensional increment, (D-L-1). It has been shown that the lower the CSTI, the lower the fractal dimension and the dimple size of the ductile tensile fracture surfaces. The link between CSTI and (D-L-1) not just provides an useful relation, but a basis for the understanding of the nature of the fracture surface roughness and the work done during fracture.
