Conduction mechanism and magnetic properties of (x)Ni0.8Cu0.2Fe2O4 + (1-x)Ba0.8Pb0.2Ti0.8Zr0.2O3 multiferroics

摘要
Magnetoelectric composites with composition (x)Ni0.8Cu0.2Fe2O4 + (1 - x)Ba0.8Pb0.2Ti0.8Zr0.2O3 (x = 0, 0.15, 0.30, 0.45 and 1 mol%) were synthesized by solid state reaction method. From the X-ray analysis, it was confirmed that no chemical reaction occurred between the ferrite and ferroelectric materials used to form the diphase composite system. The AC conductivity as a function of frequency and DC resistivity as a function of temperature were studied for different compositions. These materials show semiconductor behaviour and the conduction is due to small polaron hopping. From magnetic hysteresis measurements, the saturation magnetization was found to decrease with increase in ferroelectric content in the composites as the interaction between magnetic grains is weakened by the existence of non-magnetic ferroelectric phase in the composites.
