Enhancement of IEEE802.11p-based Channel Access Scheme for Internet of Vehicle (IoV)

摘要
Internet of Vehicle (IoV) aims to connect vehicles, people and things around the vehicle during the travel, which assists the driver with safety measures and increases the comfort of the passengers. To support service differentiation, IEEE802.11p protocol adopts Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA) mechanism. Without knowing current queue size and network load, mapping of different priority packets to Access Category (AC) queue is a trivial task. To mitigate this, Dynamic EDCA (D-EDCA) scheme is proposed in this paper for dynamic queue allocation and optimal tuning of EDCA contention parameters. For these two functions, the proposed D-EDCA scheme utilizes run-time decision parameters such as queue access rate and current network status to achieve better performance. The simulations are carried out using NS3 with SUMO and the results are analyzed and compared with that of conventional EDCA and other similar work, A-EDCA. It is inferred from this analysis that the proposed D-EDCA outperforms better than other algorithms with respect to packet delivery ratio, queue access rate and delay of safety and non-safety messages.
