摘要
Microwave heating occurs instaniously and reduces reaction times significantly. Superheating is considered to be mainly responsible for the observed acceleration. As a side effect short reaction times generate improved yields because side reaction rates are usually not increased at the same pace. Modem setups bare features like temperature and pressure control to adjust applied power automatically. This novel microwave oven design allows obtaining reproducible results. Shorter reaction times, improved yields and solvent free procedures provide also an economic advantage. Further more this technique is one of the key tools for Green Chemistry considerations, something that will become even more important due to new governmental regulations, which will certainly become stricter in future.
